These
pictures show how a log building is built.
This one is to be used as a showroom
and office for wooden toy sales in the
UK. The log used is 70mm solid flat log.
Firstly,
the ring beam is placed on the level
base. The logs are slotted into position
with insulation strip between the logs.
When the walls are up, the roof is started,
the interior cladding is fixed, insulation
placed, draught and water proof sheet
membrane and then the tile sheet. When
the log building is waterproof the soffits,
fascias and gable ends are fitted, then
the windows, gutters, doors and interior
lighting, lastly the floor is laid and
the whole building is painted inside
and out. |
This build took two of us 9 days from start to finish, not including the base, The customers budget was £14,000 + VAT for this project and total cost was around £13,000 + VAT.
This build took place in 2003, at todays prices a similar Finlog building would cost around £19,000 + VAT. This shows how much the worldwide timber prices have risen.
